The bear grotto

Just west of the Rathlousdal Manor is a genuine bear grotto. It originates from the time that the park area around the manor was a popular place for day-trippers. It is located a few hundred metres into the woods.

The grotto housed several Russian bears and even though it is now somewhat dilapidated, it is still easy to see where the bears slept and bathed. Children love to play bear and rummage in the old cages.
