Follow these paths to great nature experiences

On this site, we have collected the best hiking routes and nature experiences that are worth your while in Horsens and its surroundings.

The Nature Trail between Horsens and Silkeborg is child-friendly because it is relatively flat.

However, if you are a budding mountaineer, there are several peaks in Horsens area, e.g. Denmark’s highest point, Yding Skovhøj, and also Purhøj, Slaggaard Banke and Toftehøj.

Nørrestrand and Bygholm Sø are also obvious destinations for walkers. At Nørrestrand, you may also experience wild horses.

There are plenty of possibilities – just take your pick.
 

From solar system to beech forest

This walk takes you along the coast and lets you experience eight planets as a small model of our solar system. The planets are located at the correct distance in relation to each other.

If you continue from the Planet Path through the woods to Boller Castle Gardens, you may see an oak tree which is more than 1000 years old. And the garden is suitable for a picnic.

Close to the old manor park Bygholm Park, you find Bygholm Lake, where an 8 km long trail is a favourite route for exercise enthusiasts because of its idyllic location in beech forests and hilly landscape.

The trail is ideal for a brisk walk.
 

Walks in parks

Caroline Amalie Lunden – centrally located park with museums, playgrounds and cosy public areas – provides access to Vitus Bering Park, named after the famous Horsens explorer.

Boller Castle Gardens is a partly Asian-inspired garden with a 1000-year-old oak tree.

Palsgaard Manor Park is one of the largest manor parks in Denmark and you may experience rare species of trees, sculptures and a beautiful old manor.
