Beaches and bathing lakes

Sun, summer and beach weather. Does it get any better? Denmark is not renowned for having beach weather all year round, but if the weather gods favour us, then going to the beach and splashing in the blue waves is really something special.

Here you find the best spots for bathing

The beautiful Horsens Fjord is good for bathing with its calm waters and beaches located near towns and cities. Here, the entire family can easily go to the beach when the sun is out.

There is plenty to do along the city beach of Langelinie

As soon as the weather is nice, Horsens residents are drawn to Langelinie which is located within walking distance of the city centre. Located near the marina, this beach edges a large grassy area which, during the summer months, if full of activities and life. At the beach, you find a recently installed bathing jetty and you can shop at the nearby Restaurant Pynten, which also has an ice cream kiosk.
During the summer months, there are lots of events along Langelinie. Keep yourself updated in our calendar.

Do you miss a more peaceful alternative to Langelinie? A few hundred metres from Langelinie, you find Strandparken which is reminiscent of Langelinie, but much less frequented.

Beaches, ice cream and crazy golf at Husodde Strand

In the area of Stensballe, you find Husodde Strand – a much-frequented Blue Flag beach with good facilities. Right on the beach, you find the camp site Horsens City Camping which has a kiosk where you can buy refreshments. Here, you also find a crazy golf course which is inspired by Medieval times that works as an entertaining pause in your family’s trip to the beach.

What does it mean that a beach has a blue flag?

Blue Flag is an international eco-labelling scheme that is your guarantee of quality. At Blue Flag beaches, you get high quality bathing water and, generally, a great deal of effort is put into the environment, services and facilities.
Driving on the beach is not allowed and dogs must be kept on their leash from 1 April to 30 September. As long as the dog does not cause other people to feel unsafe, you are allowed to let your dog run free throughout the remainder of the year.

Enjoy the peaceful beaches of Endelave

Take the ferry to Endelave, the island of wild rabbits, where there are also many lovely beaches. The beaches are not that busy and finding an oasis in the sun where you can bathe undisturbed is easy. Endelave is an extremely cosy island with many experiences, so staying overnight somewhere along the way and getting the full experience can be recommended.

Also visit one of the local bathing lakes

We also recommend a dip in the calmer waters of one of our beautiful bathing lakes where you will feel even closer to nature’s greenery. Perfect for aquaphiles, eaters of packed lunches, the young-at-heart, very young children and those feel that the coast is a little too windy.

Ring Lake near Brædstrup has a nice bathing jetty and a small, cosy beach. We recommend visiting the lake and maybe taking a walk along the path leading around the lake if you enjoy a walk.

And near Vestbirk and the Uncovered Bridge, you find Naldal Lake in scenic surroundings. The quality of the bathing water of the lake is good and it is well-suited for bathing.

To the west of the bathing area, you find Elite Camp Vestbirk where you can buy and ice cream or a visitor’s pass to the camp site’s swimming pool and water slide.
